TLDR: I had a poor gpa for 2 semesters, am I wasting my time for hoping to achieve a gpa of 3.4-3.6 in order to transfer somewhere more prestigious?
My first year at sac state I got a 2.56 through 22 units. I got a b+ and a c+ in French classes and I'm fluent in French so I definitely wasn't trying my hardest.
I'm at a community college in California now and am trying to transfer to a uc through a tag program. I'm interested in Davis Santa Barbara and Irvine maybe. The tag means I need a 3.4 gpa in community college to be guaranteed admission (3.2 for Davis).
To transfer I need between 60-70 semester units but I'm afraid sac state is gonna hold me back.
With 22 units of a c+ average and like 40-45 units of straight As I would have a gpa of just around 3.4. So I'm barely getting in and I doubt I'll get straight As anyway.
Is there anything I can do regarding my poor first year at sac or should I just get mostly As and some Bs and pray for a 3.2 to get into Davis.
