Transferring from a community college in San Diego
GPA:4.0
Major GPA:4.0
IGETC:3 more classes
EC: Math tutor/member of a machine learning group/planning on going to hacksd
I was planning on applying as an ECE CSE major because it was less competitive than CS. However, CSE requires the entire physics series, which is creating a big problem for me. I am currently waitlisted for E&M and the chances of getting in look slim (#3 on the waitlist with a popular professor). If I do not get off the waitlist that will mean that I will have to attend another semester to qualify for the assist.org requirements.
If I decide to change my major to cs, I will have my assist.org requirements passed off. However, that means its going to be much more competitive compared to cse.
My life goal is to work at a software engineer, so both cs and cse will be applicable to my job.
Should I just stay another semester so I have a higher chance of getting into ucsd?
or
Apply as a cs major and pray I get in.
That 20% cs addmision rate doesn't look so hot even as a San Diego resident. Should I try to improve my ECs so im more competitve for cs??
