Transfer Help: CSU to CC to UC...

I am currently a student enrolled as a freshman in SFSU (San Francisco State University) during the Fall 2010 semester, and I would like to pick at the minds of many people who have experience and knowledge about transfers. I am currently enrolled in four classes: English 114 (Composition), Math 110 (Business Calculus), Geo 101 (Geography), and Comm 150 (Communications). If any UC admission personnel look at this thread, I was wondering the possibility of any of my current classes counting as transferable credits. It is likely I will receive and A in all of the classes above, except English 114, where I may receive a B. I was wondering what would be best for my future. I was a UC eligible High School student and was not thrilled with the colleges I got accepted --Riverside and Merced-- and decided to SFSU due to it having a good Film and decent Business School. I am unhappy with this school and want more for my education. Due to my high standards of education for myself, I was wondering if I should stick it out here for two years and try to transfer, or take the safe route and go to a CC for a year in a half and transfer that way. I have been hearing that Community Colleges classes are becoming harder to get into, and that my anticipation to graduate in 1 1/2 years, may become more. If anyone has a experience with community college or has a suggested route in order for me to complete my education time, please do so. Also, I was curious about TAP and TAG and how they work. Thank You for your time, Vince

Hello, I am currently a student at a California community college. I have taken the following courses: UNIX/Linux iOS programming Adobe Illustrator C++ programming Elementary chemistry Python programming Internet programming Computer architecture C++ data structures Java programming I have a 3.9 GPA. I am currently taking these classes: English 100 Philosophy 100 Math 225 (precalculus and trigonometry) Introduction to computer science Discrete math for computer science I hope to transfer to a UC, is it possible for me to transfer after this semester with these classes, or do I need to wait an extra year? Also, are these classes I am currently taking good choices for transfer? I am not sure which IGETC/ASSIST classes I should be taking. Thanks.

Has anyone succesfully transferred to a UC with 4 year University credits and CC credits?

Hey everyone, I really just need to relax and have a little sense of peace of mind. I applied to UCSC for the fall 2017 transfer quarter. However, 40 of my 60 units are from a 4 year university and the other 20 are from my local CC here in California. I was wondering if you or someone you know has been accepted to a UC with mixed credits like this? Thank you!

I'm a sophomore, and transferring to either UCSB or UCSD, hopefully as an econ major. Computer science & mechanical engineering really sparked my interest recently, & I was wondering if I could change my major upon transferring, if I meet specific requirements, or is that out of the question. Ive also heard in this forum that you could double-major? Can someone please clarify, thanks!

UCs require high school transcript for transfer?

I got an email from my community college and it mentioned that UCs need high school transcripts too. I was really confused at first thinking "why would they possibly want that" and i look on the UC website and it says this "You will be asked to submit official transcripts from all schools and colleges you have attended, including high school, regardless of your length of attendance or whether you believe the credit is transferable. Some campuses may request transcripts prior to admission." Does this actually apply to someone going from community college to a UC? I did TERRIBLE in high school, i had a 2.0 gpa with at least 10 Fs and Ds. Im going to be applying with a 3.6-3.7 college gpa for junior year Will high school seriously matter? This seriously bothers me, its already so competitive, and my high school transcripts are so bad they might panic when they see it and immediately reject me.

UCI transfer admission criteria

Hi everyone I read somewhere on here that UCI accepts you into their school first THEN looks at your major. If your first and second major is full they place you into Undeclared. Apparently if they rejected you its not because your major is impacted. If this is true it brings me to the question, what do they use to determine whether they accept you or not? Is GPA a big factor? Thanks in advance :)

Anyone know what the admission stats are for those who are accepted to UC Merced?

I had a tough semester. I added UC Merced on my list of schools. It appears with only 100 transfer students out of 1,000 admissions SIR every year. 25th percentile is 2.84 GPA. So about 25 people are accepted with sub 2.84. I have a splattering of W's and AR grades. Will I get into UC Merced as a CC transfer student with a 2.7gpa? Political Science Major? Is it hard NOT to get accepted to UC Merced?

Question about credit limits for UC's

I am in my first semester at community college and am planning to transfer to the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley. There is an 89 credit limit when transferring. I have to take a couple of math classes and a chemistry class as prerequisites to get me up to speed in order to take my transferrable classes such as calculus. I added up all the classes I would need to take plus these prerequisites and it comes out to over 89. It is impossible to take all the classes required for admission plus my math and chemistry prerequisites. Do prerequisites such as trigonometry not count towards this limit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all I am try to transfer to UCR and I already apply my admission; but today I got an email from UC they said I need to completing two UC-transferable English composition courses, but I completed it in C and B and each is 4 and 3 units. However, in past my friend took the same class he still successful transfer to UCR. I know C is not a good grade, but in the UC admissions said the students need to earn a grade C or better. However, in the email said that UC-transferable English composition courses need to get B or better and if I do not earn 3 rd English class my application may be delayed or canceled. When I try to apply my admission I had want to our college's transfer center and the counselor said my grade is fine and can apply. Thus I am afraid that my application will canceled, and I can not take English class in summer. So which grade that is min requitements for UC transfer?

Do transfers need to send a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form?

to qualify for BLUE + GOLD it seems we need to fill out FAFSA and send out the GPA verification form, but this information was given for all students (freshman) and according to the cal grant website, that form is only filled out for high schoolers? i know that community colleges (where im from) have that september deadline, while 4 years like UC have the march 2nd deadline so as a transfer, do we have to go to our financial aid offices and ask them to send the verification form early? is that even how it works? i dont even know if current college/community college students have to send a GPA verification form every year to receive the cal grant every year (i dont know if our financial aid office does that automatically to receive aid or if sending in the GPA verification isn't even a requirement to receive aid every year once you're in college)

I'm currently a freshman at UCI, but due to financial and personal problems, I believe that it's better for me to go to a CC near home and then transfer to a UCD since it where I am located. I was thinking of intercampus transferring, but it's too late now. Please help! I don't know what to do. I just don't feel like UCI is for me because it's too far away, and I can't seem to click with anyone...on top of that, it costs too much. :( Has anyone ever been in my position?

Submitting my 8 week course grade to my UC transfer UPDATE

Transfer updates are due tomorrow and currently I'm enrolled in an 8 week course. It's a quite easy course which I will easily get an A in. This A will overall boost my gpa to a 3.6 and I was wondering if I should update it as an A grade rather than an In Progress.

Business freshman at CPP consider transferring out to CC, then to UC. Help is appreciated.

I made a post a few months ago about my situation and how I've considered transferring out. I'm currently a business admin student and I have taken ENG 110 (GE/Major Support), MAT 125 (GE/Major Support), CIS 101 (CPP Graduation requirement) and I'm currently taking HRT 255 (GE Area E), FRL 201 (Core Class), ENG 130, and ECON 201. I haven't decided on what classes I'm taking yet next quarter since I haven't committed to anything yet but have been recommended. My experience here at CPP have been really bland.I just go to class and eat at LO. Clubs aren't that prominent other than Greek life (I'm not into partying). There isn't much sense of a community/pride since it's a commuter school and sports teams aren't D1-level so they don't get as recognized like UCs. I guess the only really interesting thing about the campus is the BRIC, but working out isn't my thing. My peers aren't as intelligent as I expected (my residence hall average GPA was a 2.9 last quarter. I had a 3.85 which is sad since we took 12 quarter units and they were GEs). Also, the few friends I made here feel as disappointed about this school and my roommate happened to have transferred out 3 weeks ago since he strives on going to SLO/Berkeley. All the advisers I've talked to haven't been very encouraging/much help to me. When I talked with the first adviser in December, I signed up for the 4-year pledge, so that I could graduate ASAP. He provided me a 4-year graduation plan which is pretty inaccurate because there were a few classes that I was exempt from due to AP credit and there was also a class on my planner that isn't taught anymore. I went to another adviser earlier this month and told her about the mistakes on my planner, so that she could revise it. I also told her about my transfer consideration, but she was passive aggressive about it and questioned why I would want a 4-year planner if I planned on transferring. I haven't never committed to anything yet and I just wanted to look at all my options. I went to a different adviser today since registration was soon and wanted to talk over my options. Apparently, my second adviser never saved the planner into the system, so we had to go over what my classes were for Spring Quarter. She recommended ACC207/207A (Core), TOM 301 (Core), IBM (301), GE A1, but I heard that if I took too many Upper-Division level classes, I wouldn't be able to attend UCs, which is why I've been reluctant to choose my classes. I told this adviser about my transfer consideration to a UC, but her response was that I would finish this quarter at CPP and do nothing at all for 2-3 months until summer/fall since my CC is on the semester system. She told me this because apparently, my CPP credits would not transfer to UCs, but I thought that my CPP credits would transfer to CC and then those credits would transfer to UCs. This is understandable since my core classes are different than those in UCs, but if I took GEs, wouldn't they transfer? The UCs I've been considering are UCB and ideally, UCI for business admin, but I heard it was like a 6% acceptance rate. I was also wondering if it's possible to TAG still in my situation and only be at my CC for one year, which means that I would change my major to business econ since business admin is excluded from TAG at UCI and I could also try for business econ at UCLA. I've tried contacting the admission office at my CC and the lady just told me the registration process and that I could speak with a counselor on Walk-in Wednesday, but I wouldn't be back in town until spring break in 6 weeks, which will be far after my Spring Quarter registration at CPP. Thanks for taking your time to reading this and I would appreciate any advice/help.

UC to UC Transfer Computer Science

I am a freshman who is planning to transfer to a different UC for Fall of 2018 and after a while of research, I wanted to confirm and see if I am missing any steps to this process. Currently I am on a quarter system. 1. Finish GEs at my current school to obtain a letter of reciprocity 2. Complete the "Expected Coursework" or Pre Reqs listed (This should cover prereqs for all UCs I apply to?) http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/preparation-paths/computer-science-majors/index.html 3. Apply November 2017 At this point I may not have fully completed GEs or the PreReqs. On the application do I put down the classes I plan to take in the coming quarters that would then fulfill everything? Thank you

UCB Public Health Admission Qs

Hello all, this is my first time posting on here and I have a few questions regarding UCB's Public Health program. Btw, I am currently in my first year enrolled at a CCC. -As a prospective public health major, what other extracurricular activities should I get involved in that relate to my major? So far, I am currently working on health projects and volunteering at my local clinic. -How competitive is it to get into UCB's Public Health program? -Are admissions more likely to accept a 3.9 GPA student who has taken the minimum number of pre reqs (chem, bio) than a 3.8 GPA student who has taken more pre reqs (chem, bio, anatomy)? Appreciate the help!
